Leicester see off Aston Villa
Leicester faced a trip to Villa Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Foxes headed into the tie on a decent run of form, knowing a win against Aston Villa would see them, temporarily at least, move up to 2nd in the English top-flight.
And when all was said and done in the midlands, a victory is exactly what Leicester managed.
James Maddison fired the visitors into the lead inside 20 minutes:
Harvey Barnes then doubled Brendan Rodgers’ side’s lead just four minutes later.
Bertrand Traore was able to pull one back for Villa shortly after the break, but Leicester were able to hold out for the win.
Rodgers provides update on Maddison
An otherwise positive afternoon for Leicester was dampened slightly when James Maddison was taken off 64 minutes holding his leg.
The midfielder has been in sensational form of late and losing him for any amount of time would be a big blow to the Foxes as they push to secure a top-four finish.
As a result, Leicester fans were probably waiting with bated breath to hear what Rodgers had to say on Maddison post-match.
And the Northern Irishman has since provided the following update on the Englishman:
“He had an issue with his hip last season. He just felt it when he was taking the corner so as a precaution we’ve taken him off and we’ll examine that over the next couple of days.”
