First frustration, then joy!
In the 1-0 win against West Ham United Cristiano Ronaldo seemed frustrated again on the pitch. Until Marcus Rashford rescued Ralf Rangnick’s team in the 93rd minute.
Which was especially important for Ronaldo! He had repeatedly expressed criticism in recent weeks particulary with the young players from Man United.
Last week Ronaldo said of the United youngsters: “For example, if I give them advices but they don’t incorporate it into their daily lives, it will be difficult.”
After the West Ham victory, however, the thick air suddenly seemed to have disappeared. Taking to Instagram, Ronaldo posted a picture of the celebration after scoring the winning goal and wrote: “Another important win before the Premier League was suspended, another step towards our goals.”
And further: “The road is bumpy and full of obstacles, but we stand together and work hard to make our fans proud! Let’s go, Devils!”
Suddenly Ronaldo is more of a motivator than a complainer. This is probably related to the important fourth place in the table that United are currently. It means direct qualification for the Champions League.
For the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Champions League is the big objective this year as the Premier League title seems impossible. Ronaldo recently told for SkySports: “I didn’t come here to finish sixth, seventh or fifth.”
Clear announcement: If Man United does not reach the Champions League, Ronaldo could move on again in the summer after just one year with Red Devils.
