Newcastle legend Rob Lee has named his January ideal transfer targets to help Eddie Howe team to secure Premier League survival.
Lee believes the new head coach will require reinforcements in order to defy history and lead Newcastle to safety.
The Legend Rob Lee, believes the club’s new owners could be set to make moves for up to six players in the mid-season window.
Speaking to Coffee Friend, Lee said: “I would say James Tarkowski, Jesse Lingard and Kieran Trippier would be the top players to save the club from relegation. The Magpies want to strengthen a few key areas. Lingard would score goals, it’s what Newcastle need. West Ham are probably desperate to get him back, he was unbelievable for them. He’s got energy, he gets around the pitch and he’ll get on the end of things and score goals.
“Tarkowski, he’s been in England squads, he’s a good defensive player, strong, quick and a bit of a leader. Tarkowski have the characteristics to cover the early-season defensive woes. I’ve always liked Trippier, they’re the players you could get and they’d want to come to Newcastle.
Regarding to Lee : “Important is to find the right players coming to Newcastle not just for the money, but players who want to play for the club and fans. If we get those types of players in, we’ll be okay.”
Eddie Howe’s side finding themselves into a bad position after registered their long-awaited first victory of the campaign against relegation rivals Burnley at St James’ Park last Saturday and desperately needing better quality to be added to the squad.
The transfer window opens in 30 days time on 1 January 2022, then closes on 31 January 2022.
Newcastle face a daunting festive schedule ahead of the January window opening, with clashes against Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United on the horizon.
