Wolves interested to sign Sevilla defender in January

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly interested in former Aston Villa target Marcos Acuna.

The 32-year-old Sevilla defender was the subject of interest from Villa in the summer and contact between the clubs is claimed to have taken place. There was some doubt over Lucas Digne’s future and Villa had identified Acuna as an option to replace him in case he left the club.

However, after Digne stayed at B6, Villa didn’t go ahead with a move for Acuna. But their neighbours Wolves could make the move in January.

That’s according to Spanish outlet Todo Fichajes, who claim that Wolves have set their sights on Acuna. Gary O’Neil is reportedly keen to bolster his defence with further experience and quality.

However, they add that a move is far from “straightforward” as he is seen as key figure in Sevilla’s defence. Acuna is also under contract until 2025 and is claimed to be valued at around €12million (£10m)

Recent reports have stated that Acuna would be keen on a “change of scenery”, with the Premier League being an appealing destination.
