Aston Villa agree first January deal as Unai Emery agrees with Steven Gerrard

Aston Villa will hand Scotland U21 international Rory Wilson his first professional contract in January

The 16-year-old, who left Rangers in the summer, has got off to a flying start in the West Midlands, scoring a goal and providing an assist in his first two appearances for Villa under-21s after being promoted from younger academy sides.

According to the Daily Record, the striker is now set to be offered his first professional deal by Villa.

Wilson originally signed a scholarship form after leaving Rangers, but will now put pen to paper on a new deal in January as Villa look to tie down one of the most exciting prospects in the country.

Prior to joining Villa, Wilson had been monitored by the likes of Manchester United and Newcastle United before Steven Gerrard secured the signing of a player he had spotted while Rangers boss from 2018 to 2021.
