Aston Villa offerd “unhappy” Barcelona midfielder

The agent of Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie “would like” to send the player to England amid links to Aston Villa.

Kessie, 25, was previously linked with a move to Villa this summer but opted to join Barcelona on a free transfer after departing Serie A side AC Milan.

The Ivory Coast international has struggled since arriving at the Camp Nou with just two starts to his name across the 2022/23 La Liga season so far. A nightmare which could be set to end in January, as his agent George Antagana explores possible exit strategies for the midfielder.

According to Il Giorno via Sport Witness, the player is “tired” of the situation at Barcelona and would like to pursue a move back to Italy. However, the relationship between the club and his agent was damaged following his exit from the Rossoneri, which could pave the way for a move to England in January.

The report goes on to name Villa as one of the potential landing destinations for the player, as well as Fulham and Championship side Watford. Kessie has recently been mentioned in a potential swap deal involving Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, who the Spanish giants are reportedly keen on.

Luiz was recently tied down to a new long-term deal at Villa Park so a deal involving the Brazilian appears unlikely at this stage.
