The transfer window is nearing its conclusion and Aston Villa are frantically trying to sign a new midfielder.
Steven Gerrard has identified midfield as one of two areas in need of strengthening before Monday’s deadline, with a new centre-back also on Villa’s agenda.
Villa’s list of midfield targets reportedly includes Brighton’s Yves Bissouma, Juventus star Rodrigo Bentancur, Swiss enforcer Denis Zakaria and Marseille man Boubacar Kamara.
Transfers for the aforementioned quartet are easier said than done, which is why Gerrard appears to have turned his attentions back to a familiar face.
According to reports, Villa are ready to reignite their interest in Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara.
The club tracked Kamara during the summer and Gerrard’s appointment in November led to fresh reports of interest in the Finland international.
Gerrard signed Kamara for Rangers in 2019 and the Villa boss has spoken glowingly about the 26-year-old in the past.
Speaking after Kamara signed a contract extension with Rangers until 2025 in September, Gerrard said: “He’s evolved, he’s grown, and improved a lot since we took him from Dundee.
