Chelsea restart talks to sign £55M rated Everton star

Chelsea are back in for Amadou Onana and are in discussions to bring the Everton midfielder to Stamford Bridge.

Everton ace Amadou Onana could be on the move this summer with Chelsea reviving their interest in him.

That is according to Belgian reporter Sacha Tavolieri, who claims that Chelsea are exploring a deal to sign Onana.

Tavolieri claims that Everton have ‘resumed discussions’ to try and sign Onana and are showing a ‘strong interest’.

The Telegraph reported in January that Chelsea were interested in snapping up Onana and their interest is now being revived.

It’s added that Onana is open to leaving Everton and the Toffees may be willing to do a deal in order to bring in some funds.

Tavolieri adds that Everton may seek around £55million for Onana this summer.

That would be a healthy profit for Everton, who struck a deal worth around £34million to sign Onana from Lille last summer.

Chelsea may need to offload a few players this summer in order to raise funds, but it may decimate their midfield options.

N’Golo Kante seems to be heading for Saudi Arabia whilst Mateo Kovacic is expected to join Manchester City.

Add in doubts over Conor Gallagher’s future and the January departure of Jorginho and Chelsea need to sort out some midfield signings.

Onana appears to be a top target, possibly with a view to partnering Enzo Fernandez in the Chelsea midfield.

Onana is far from Chelsea’s only target though; Brighton and Hove Albion ace Moises Caicedo is a real candidate too.

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg claims that Caicedo has now decided to join Chelsea this summer and a deal is in the works.

That means Onana leaving Everton isn’t nailed on, and the Belgian may end up being a backup target in case Chelsea can’t land Caicedo.
