Special talent keen on singning for Aston Villa as Emery want’s him at any cost

Aston Villa want Gerard Deulofeu and have held talks to sign him, with the Udinese star seemingly keen on a Premier League return.

That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who claim that ‘contracts are in progress’ for Deulofeu to make the move to Villa Park.

It’s suggested that Deulofeu is open to the move and Unai Emery is very keen to snap up his fellow Spaniard.

Emery wants another forward player this month and has been linked with a number of options.

Villarreal duo Nicolas Jackson and Arnaut Danjuma have bene heavily touted with moves to Villa Park having worked with Emery in Spain.

Yet it now looks like Emery’s top target is Deulofeu and Villa will be looking to strike a deal with Udinese this month.

Deulofeu has been in decent form this season, notching two goals and six assists in 15 Serie A games for Udinese.

Now 28, Deulofeu hasn’t quite lived up to his wonderkid status at Barcelona but has carved out a strong career.

This would be Deulofeu’s fourth spell in the Premier League having enjoyed two with Everton and one with Watford.

A move to Villa would see Deulofeu reunite with boss Emery too.

Emery signed Deulofeu for Sevilla back in 2014 and they spent the season together before going their separate ways.

Emery appears to be a huge fan of Deulofeu, admitting in 2019 that he likes the Spaniard ‘a lot’ and thinks he is a ‘very good player’.

Once hailed as a ‘special talent’ by Roberto Martinez, Deulofeu can bring a bit of magic to the Villa attack but he may be a little inconsistent too.

Emery may believe that he can get the best out of Deulofeu, and Villa are pressing ahead with their attempts to strike a deal.
