West Ham have their £20M bid rejected on talented striker

TalkSPORT claim West Ham seen a £20million bid rejected for Lorient striker Terem Moffi, with the Ligue 1 club rating the striker at a huge £30million. Moffi has been in stunning form for Lorient this season, scoring 12 goals in 18 games.

The seven-time Nigeria international came into the season having scored only 23 goals in 72 games. But this season, his form has gone up a level, netting well above more than a goal every two games. Lorient sit seventh in Ligue 1.

A previous report from TalkSPORT states that Everton have shown an interest in Michail Antonio. As have Chelsea. But, a move for Antonio may hinge solely on West Ham signing Moffi. Antonio will not want to be third-choice striker.

But the latest report claims that West Ham have had a £20million bid rejected for Moffi. Lorient want a fee as high as £30million. However, that price tag may start to reduce with his contract now in its last 18 months with the French side.

A fee of £30million is enormous. Especially, given this is his first season in which he is seriously impressing. Yes, he is good enough for the Premier League but at £30million? Hardly enough proof for the Hammers to spend such a fee.

But of course, if Antonio is keen to leave, then he will need replacing. The chances are that a move for Moffi would see West Ham save money on wages – if Antonio departs. With the Hammers in 18th, though, the would be helping a rival.

West Ham cannot let Antonio go to Everton – on loan, or permanently – given Everton are now a direct rival in a bid to avoid relegation. The Hammers must realise now, especially after a loss to Wolves, they are in a relegation scrap.
