Brendan Rodgers wants to sign Rangers star before tuesday deadline

Football website 90Min claim Rangers star Ryan Kent is on Brendan Rodgers’ shortlist this month as he looks to sign a winger before Tuesday night’s deadline – with Kent’s contract at Ibrox due to expire at the end of the current season.

Kent, 26, remains a crucial part of Michael Beale’s side. Since joining the Gers initially on loan in the summer of 2018, Kent has gone on to clock up a huge 205 games in both league and cup. In that time, he has had a hand in 87 goals.

The ex-Liverpool man, though, could be about to see his time at Rangers come to an end. His deal expires in June, and it is unclear if he will put pen to paper before then. Now, 90Min say Leicester want to sign Kent before the deadline.

It comes after Leicester saw an enquiry rejected for Leeds United’s Jack Harrison. Fiorentina have rejected a move for Nicolas Gonzalez, while Lyon’s Tete is a target – but a deal would be tricky. He is on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk.

A move to Leicester would be a brilliant one for Kent. He has shown that he definitely has what it takes to shine in the Premier League. But, would he get into the Leicester side above Harvey Barnes on the left flank? He can play elsewhere.

Perhaps, Rodgers sees Kent as a no.10 – or feels there is enough versatility in Kent to turn him into a right-sided wide man. It is unclear if Rangers are willing to sell him for a fee this month, or would rather keep him until the summer.

Kent is seemingly happy at Ibrox – but, he is yet to sign a new deal and while he remains in the final months of his deal, the interest will only grow. Rangers do now have the chance to bring in a fee for the English winger before Tuesday
