Fabrizio Romano : Aston Villa could make a move for Chelsea star

Speaking on the Que Golazo Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Conor Gallagher’s future and interest from Aston Villa.

Gallagher was incredible last season out on loan at Crystal Palace, and, understandably, there has been plenty of speculation about his Chelsea future this summer.

With the five substitutes rule coming into effect this season, many have been tipping Gallagher to play a role at Stamford Bridge, but, as ever, he has some admirers from within the Premier League.

According to Romano, one team that could move for Gallagher are Aston Villa as the journalist states that Steven Gerrard is a massive fan of the former Crystal Palace loanee.

Romano spoke about Gallagher.

“A great player, I’m told that Steven Gerrard loves him and rates him highly, but he’s not the only one. Thomas Tuchel wants to see this player, so I think he will stay with Chelsea in pre-season and they will decide with the player what the best solution is by looking at the market, but I am sure that Tuchel will keep an eye on this boy, and the same with Armando Broja, before accepting any proposals,” Romano said.

Of course, signing Gallagher is easier said than done, but if Villa can pull this one off, just imagine how good the Midlands club’s midfield could be.

John McGinn and Douglas Luiz are already absolutely quality, Jacob Ramsey has all of the potential in the world, while Boubacar Kamara looks like a real star in the making.

Add Gallagher to that and you genuinely have one of the best midfield stables in the Premier League.

The top six may need to keep an eye on Villa if this transfer happens.
