Leeds offer £26m for Belgian superstar

The Mail claim Leeds have actually tabled an offer of £26million to sign Club Bruges wonderkid Charles De Ketelaere. It comes after the Whites were first linked with the Belgian last week, by Fabrizio Romano.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed his best season yet, helping Brugge win a third consecutive league title. Playing 49 times in all competitions, the Belgium international had a hand in 28 goals – scoring 18 and creating 10

A third league title, at just 21. De Ketelaere was the attacking lynchpin for Brugge in their title-winning campaign, at least that is according to Radja Nainggolan. The midfielder said De Ketelaere has been Brugge’s “undisputed star”.

The Mail now claim Leeds have tabled £26million to sign the versatile attacker – as Raphinha edges towards the exit doors. However, reports from De Ketelaere’s home country claim that Brugge are looking for as much as £34million.

What a signing he would be. A wonderkid in every sense of the word. A fully-fledged international, the future of an entire country, even being likened to Kevin De Bruyne. He already has three league titles to his name.

He is worth every penny of the £34million valuation. If Leeds and Brugge can come to a compromise, perhaps reaching that figure with future add-ons and performance bonuses, then it is a deal that both parties must strike.

While Brugge can help him win trophies and give him Champions League football, it is not the stage for De Ketelaere to thrive. He needs to be in the best league in the world – something Leeds can offer.
