Newcastle now ready to pay £51m Belgian star

Newcastle United are ready to pay €60 million (£51.02 million) for Tottenham Hotspur target Yannick Carrasco, according to AS.

AS have reported that Carrasco has a release clause of €60 million (£51.02 million) in his contract at Atletico Madrid, and that Premier League club Newcastle are willing to pay it.

La Liga outfit Atletico are reportedly calm about the situation.

The London Evening Standard reported on May 26 that Carrasco is one of the players Tottenham are looking at signing to play as a wing-back.

In our view, Newcastle United could be able to sign Tottenham Hotspur target Yannick Carrasco from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window.

Now, Tottenham have already signed Ivan Perisic on a free transfer, so head coach Antonio Conte may not want to sign another left wing-back this summer, although there is speculation that Eintracht Frankfurt and Serbia international wing-back Filip Kostic is still a target for the North London club.

The big question is whether Carrasco would want to move to Newcastle.

Atletico will compete for the La Liga title next season and will also play in the Champions League.

Newcastle are unlikely to even challenge for the Premier League top six next season.
