Thuram has just seven months left on his current deal and reports suggest he is unlikely to pen fresh terms with Gladbach.

Thuram has been in sensational form this season having scored 10 goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances He has netted another three goals in two DFB-Pokal games for the German side this term.

Thuram has also featured in both of France’s opening two World Cup games, against Australia and Denmark, coming off the substitutes bench in both fixtures. His form in front of goal for Gladbach is what has piqued the interest of several clubs across the continent ahead of the January window.

In today’s edition of L’Equipe, the newspaper claims that Emery is ‘desperate’ to bring Thuram to Villa Park after being unable to lure him to Villarreal previously. The forward is also reportedly of interest to the likes of Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund.
