Wolverhampton Wanderers have been linked with another one of Julen Lopetegui’s former players ahead of the January transfer window.
Real Madrid pair Nacho Fernandez and Mariano Diaz have been linked with Wolves since Lopetegui – who has coached Porto, Spain, Real Madrid and Sevilla – took charge of the team two weeks ago. Fresh reports in Spain are now linking Wolves with a move for Sevilla defender Marcos Acuna.
Acuna joined Sevilla in the summer of 2020 and spent two years playing under Lopetegui before the coach was fired in October. Acuna hasn’t been assured of his place in Sevilla’s line-up this season following the summer arrival of Brazilian left-back Alex Telles.
According to Vamos Mi Sevilla (via Sport Witness), Wolves are one of four clubs interested in Acuna’s services. The others named are Villarreal, Eintracht Frankfurt and Inter Milan.
Sevilla reportedly hope to raise at least €12million (£10.3m) from Acuna’s sale. Wolves have Hugo Bueno and Rayan Ait-Nouri competing for the left-back spot at present, while Jonny Castro Otto can also play there.
