West Ham trying to bring £100k-p/w star to London Stadium

West Ham will definitely make another attempt to sign Manchester United attacking midfielder Jesse Lingard this summer, claims Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The Hammers failed to land the 29-year-old in January, but Brown is expecting David Moyes to go back in for him when the transfer window reopens

According to football.london, West Ham made a couple of approaches for Lingard in January but saw them knocked back by United

The 32-cap England international, however, still looks set to leave Old Trafford, as his reported £100,000-a-week contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

West Ham are one club who are thought to be keen on doing a summer deal, with the Daily Mirror claiming that the east London outfit, AS Roma and Newcastle United are all interested in signing Lingard.

He has found himself on the periphery this season, making just his second league start of the 2021/22 campaign against Norwich City earlier this month

With Lingard enjoying a successful loan spell at the London Stadium last season, Brown is expecting West Ham to be firmly in contention to sign the United star in the summer.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the Daily Star reporter said: “I think they will definitely make another attempt for Lingard.

“He fitted in really well there, was a good part of the group, not just in the team but in the dressing room, and really gave them a big boost at a key time. Moyes likes him and the interest hasn’t gone anywhere
